The Venezuelan Zebu (aka Cebú venezolano in Spanish) began with the importation into Venezuela (from Brazil) of:
the Gir
the Nelore
the Indo-Brazilian
The popularity of the Gir prompted a group of breeders to form a breed society – calling it the Venezuelan Zebu.
Although Nelore and Indo-Brazilian influence might be present – the Venezuelan Zebu most closely resembles the Gir and has a coat color of either solid red – or – red with white speckling.

The Dabieshan (aka Dabie Mountain; 大别山牛 in Chinese) can be yellowish to blackish-brown in color. Often they will have round white patches along their rump which may be an influence of the wild banteng.

The breed originated from the importation and haphazard breeding of:
the Ongole (predominate)
the Kankrej
the Hissar
the Gir
All were imported before 1922.
The Jamaica Brahman has been greatly influenced by the American Brahman since 1948.
